Figuring it all out! It begins with doing the work to figure yourself out first and this is a key underlying theme for this book.

The person that you see who has managed to be very successful in his or her fitness journey may be very different to you in terms of their responsibilities, the time they have available to them, their fears and concerns as well as thee experiences and opportunities.

It may not have always been that way for them either, but just know that everyone has a very unique set of factors, as well as personal preferences and priorities that affect their motivation to get fit.

Introspection can be valuable, but try not to confuse introspection with dwelling on the negatives, the “if only I was…”, “if only I had”.

Reflect on your limitations and work around them. As long as their is life in your body and you have some basic range of mobility, you usually have enough physical ability to do something.

But you firstly have to want to do it. Figuring out why you want to do it needs to be deeper than immediate goals like losing weight before attending a school reunion, fitting into a wedding dress before the big day or anything that achieves short term desires.

Introspection is about revisiting who you once were, who you are now and beginning to develop a sense of who you want your “future self” to be.
